My Biography...

Laura began dancing as a 3rd grader in Edenton, NC and then continued her studies to Elizabeth City, NC and Greenville, NC. In her high school years Laura participated in many dance conventions where she was chosen as a scholarship recipient and to go on tour with Dance Caravan as a touring Caravan Kid. From there she continued her dance career as a Company Dancer for Dance Theatre USA whom she continues to travel with during both the Winter and Summer Tour. She also was on So You Think You Can Dance where she made it to final cuts before making it on the show, which is one of her favorite dance memories.

Her more formal training included: Barry YoungBlood, Christie Sirota, Ryan Beck, Jamie Salmon, Wade Robson, Christina Applegate, Scott Benson, Quentin Bolden, Loree Russeau, Sonya Livingston, and Mary Beth Hansohn. She also studied at the North Carolina Academy of Dance Arts under Galina Panova, Sherryl Tipton, Kathryn Dail, Leslie Biggs, and Clarine Powell. Laura’s college training started at East Carolina University and transferred to Appalachian State University to obtain her Bachelor of Arts in Dance with a minor in Special Education. While in college Laura performed and choreographed many pieces. One of her interests in dance includes working with both the disabled and non-disabled dancer together. Laura has a very diverse dance background being proficient in both African and Irish dancing. She hopes to bring her very diverse background to students so that they may find some connection and enjoy dance just as much as she does.
